Saumya is a Counselling Psychologist. She completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology, PGD in Counselling Skills (TISS, Mumbai) & Basics in Addiction Management (NIMHANS). Post which she worked at UMMEED Centre for Child Development, Mumbai as intern, and volunteered at Aavishkar Centre for Self Enrichment, and Poddar Wellness. She was associated with iCALL, TISS as a Counselling Psychologist, providing psycho-social support to the frontline warriors and individuals in distress during COVID-19 via telephone and emails. She has experience of providing crisis intervention as well.
She is a peer mentor for Life Skills, CLL, TISS Mumbai. As part of her association with TISS she currently holds position of Visiting Faculty for Life Skills and Introduction to Counselling & other Helping Professions. She has designed and worked on projects for Life Skills with Naman Group (Mumbai), Homemakers and has written papers on understanding Juvenile Delinquency. She has also taken workshops on Understanding & Managing Parental Fatigue and Managing Caregiver Burnout for the parents of Type1 diabetes.
Currently she is associated with RATI Foundation for Social Change as Senior Counsellor, providing technical and mental health support to children facing online harm on different social media platforms in the form of cyber-bullying, impersonation, denigration etc.
